After six thrilling days of Karate action, the historic edition of the tournament crowned the new kings and queens of the sport. The new kings and queens of the modality were proclaimed in the fifth day of action of the 2018 Karate World Championships being held at WiZink Center sports hall in the capital of Spain. Local Kata queen Sandra Sanchez and up-coming karatekas took the spotlight of the memorable day.

The powerhouse nations of the sport took a stand today and dominated the Team Kumite competition. Iran and Turkey in male category and France and Japan in women’s competition will fight for gold in the category.

Surprising results in morning session of day 2 of #KarateMadrid2018

The morning session of the second day of action at the Karate World Championships was full of surprises. In Male Kumite -75kg Luigi Busa of Italy eliminated five-time World Champion Rafael Aghayev and will clash for gold against Bahman Asgari Ghoncheh, while two of the most promising karatekas, Jovana Prekovic of Serbia and Xiaoyan Yin of China will compete for gold in Female Kumite -61kg. In Male Kumite -67kg, the final will have Brazil’s Vinicius Figuera and France’s Steven Dacosta as participants.
