WKF President meets with Thailand Karate officials in Bangkok

WKF President Antonio Espinós met with Thailand Karate Federation president Aniwat Siridejvaravong in Bangkok to discuss the development of Karate in the region. 

WKF President Antonio Espinós met with Thailand Karate Federation president Aniwat Siridejvaravong in Bangkok to discuss the development of Karate in the region. 

Mr. Espinós is in Thailand this week to participate in the SportAccord Convention being held in Bangkok. The head of Karate’s international governing body took the opportunity to gather with the top officials of the Thailand Karate Federation. Mr. Espinós was accompanied at the meetings by WKF General Secretary Toshihisa Nagura. 

Thailand Karate Federation president Aniwat Siridejvaravong headed the TKF delegation welcoming the WKF officials in Bangkok. The remarkable progress of Karate in the region and the role of the WKF in helping national federations to further develop the sport in their areas were at the centre of the discussions. 

Thailand has a huge Karate following, with representatives of the nation winning four medals at the last edition of the AKF Cadet, Junior, U21 Championships and claiming one bronze medal at the 2017 AKF Senior Karate Championships. At the 2017 World Junior, Cadet and U21 Championships, Thailand’s Aika Okazaki was proclaimed world champion in the Cadet Female Kumite -74kg category.
