Successful SEAKF Championship and Congress

The city of Port Dickson in Malaysia hosted the 5th edition of the regional championship of the South East Asia Karate Federation. The event took place in the Malaysian city from May 31st to June 5th and gathered ten countries from the region.

The city of Port Dickson in Malaysia hosted the 5th edition of the regional championship of the South East Asia Karate Federation. The event took place in the Malaysian city from May 31st to June 5th and gathered ten countries from the region.

No less than 400 competitors from the countries of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam participated in the tournament. Vietnam topped the final standings of the competition with a tally of 33 medals. Host nation claimed 28 medals and Indonesia earned 30 awards thus completing the first positions in the final ranking of the championship.

During the hectic week, the SEAKF also celebrated  a series of regional events including an AKF Referee and Coaches Seminar & Examination, the Executive Council meetings, the Congress and the election of Office Bearers for the term 2016 – 2020.

The new Office Bearers for the South East Asia Karate Federation (SEAKF) for the term 2016 – 2020 are headed by President Senator Mohd Ali Bin Mohd Rustam from Malaysia; Presidential Advisors are Mohd Noor Nordin from Malaysia and Hendardji Soeprandji from Indonesia. Agus Santoso from Indonesia acts as General Secretary, and Malai Mohammed from Brunei, Vu Son Ha from Vietnam and Dr. Alenjandro Vasquez from Philippines were elected Vice Presidents.

The Executive Council is formed by Dr. win Zaw (Myanmar), General Satit Suvanprakom (Thailand), Cheay Keak (Cambodia), Sonesack Nhansana (Lao) and David Thong (Singapore).
