European Karate Federation earn EUSA special award

The European Karate Federation has been honoured with the Special Award by the European University Sports Association. The continental sports organisation announced that the EKF will be recognised with the 2017 Special award for “their close partnership and cooperation in raising the profile of karate in European university sport”.

The EKF has been an active force in the promotion and development of the sport at university level. “We are really grateful to EUSA for this award. This recognition will spur us in EKF to continue making efforts to enhance our sport and to contribute to the progress of the university sporting landscape. We hope that we can take our cooperation with EUSA to new heights in the years to come and we are sure that we will continue playing a leading role at European University sports events,” said EKF and WKF President Antonio Espinós.

The last edition of the EUSA Karate Championships was held in Coimbra (Portugal) in 2017. It was the eight edition of the European Universities Karate Championship and it gathered over 200 athletes from 108 Universities and from 21 countries.

The awards will be officially presented to the recipients at the EUSA Gala, to be held as a part of the EUSA General Assembly in Madrid, Spain on April 13, 2018.
