WKF Karate 1 Youth Cup underway in Umag

After four thrilling days of trainings and memorable moments for over a thousand young Karatekas from around the world, the WKF Youth Camp & Karate 1 Youth Cup heads to its second part of the memorable event. Young participants get to put all their knowledge into action with the days devoted to competition in the big celebration of Youth Karate being held in Umag (Croatia).

After four thrilling days of trainings and memorable moments for the thousand young Karatekas from around the world participating in the big celebration of Youth Karate, the WKF Youth Camp & Karate 1 Youth Cup heads to the second part of the memorable event. Young participants get to put all their knowledge into action with the days devoted to competition.

The aspiring Karatekas taking part in the ninth edition of the event had the unique opportunity to learn new techniques and improve their performance with true legends of the sport in the first days of the camp. The likes of Rafael Aghayev, Douglas Brose, Rika Usami, Luca Valdesi, Davide Benetello and Predrag Stojadinov caused a sensation among youngsters in the different seminars and training sessions in which over a thousand participants from 56 countries and five continents acquired valuable knowledge in Kata and Kumite.



Following the registration on Thursday afternoon, the event now advances to the Karate 1 Youth Cup. Young Karatekas aged 10 to 20 wear their karate-gis and their protections to improve in the competitive aspects of the sport.

The WKF Karate 1 Youth Cup starts on Friday morning with the Kata and Kumite competitions for athletes from 10 to 13 years old. With nearly 500 competitors taking part in the event, the successful launching of the event to the younger categories has represented one main new features of this year’s edition.

The competition will continue throughout the weekend, as cadet, junior and under 21 categories will take the stage in the sports hall Maria & Lino in Umag. The event runs until Sunday, when the tournament will come to an end and delegations will start their way home after a memorable week in Umag.
