Young karatekas from Ukraine and Italy prevail in memorable Karate 1 Youth League Venice

The Karate 1-Youth League event in Venice (Italy) concluded Sunday with representatives of Ukraine and Italy among the big winners of the tournament.

After three thrilling days of competition, powerhouse nations of Ukraine, Italy, and Spain topped the medal table. Ukrainian karatekas went home with no less than 11 gold medals thus showcasing the strength of their grassroots programme.

Meanwhile, the hosts of Italy won five gold medals while Spain took three top awards. No less than 14 countries garnered top titles at the event, a testament to Karate’s global popularity.

The Karate 1-Youth League Venice is the closing event of the season. The tournament was a manifestation of the impact of Karate at young ages, as 2047 athletes from 52 countries took part in the event, as well as a demonstration of the efficiency of the WKF COVID Protocol.
