WKF President Welcomes Mexico Karate Federation President in Madrid

The President of the Mexican Karate Federation and member of the World Karate Federation (WKF) Executive Committee Samantha Desciderio visited the WKF headquarters in Madrid to discuss the progress of Karate in the country and around the world. The Mexican Karate official was warmly welcomed by WKF President Antonio Espinós.

The meeting took place ahead of the highly anticipated 2024 Karate World Cup in Pamplona. Discussions focused on the state of karate in Mexico and the growing prominence of the sport across the Americas.

Mexico has emerged as a key hub for karate, hosting several high-profile events in recent years. The Karate 1-Youth League has been held in cities like Cancun, Mérida, Acapulco, Monterrey, and Cancun-Quintana Roo, showcasing the nation’s commitment to the sport.

WKF President Antonio Espinós said after the meeting:  

“We are grateful for Mrs. Desciderio’s visit and her tireless work to promote karate in Mexico and worldwide. Her leadership as National Federation President and her contributions to the WKF Executive Committee have been instrumental in advancing our sport. Her visit highlighted the shared commitment to strengthening karate’s global reach and fostering growth in key regions such as the Americas”.
