WKF President Antonio Espinós met Friday with the President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and IOC member Mustapha Berraf at the Headquarters of the World Karate Federation in Madrid (Spain).

Both leaders discussed a number of important topics including the development of Karate in Africa, the celebration of Karate events in the continent, and the Olympic prospects of the sport.

Mr Berraf is a member of the IOC since 2019 and has headed the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa since 2018.

Following the visit, the WKF President said:

“I was pleased to welcome Mr Mustapha Berraf to the WKF Headquarters and review the situation of sports and Karate in Africa and around the world with him. Karate can bring great added value to the Olympic movement, and we at the WKF are delighted to cooperate with Mr Berraf and ANOCA to elevate the impact of sports and the sports ecosystem in society, both on the African continent and all over the world. We are thrilled to have Mr Berraf as a friend of Karate, and we hope to have many more opportunities to share our strong passion and vision for sports in years to come.”
