WKF President Antonio Espinós met with the UFAK Executive Bureau members to discuss the development of Karate in Africa. The gathering took place in Rabat (Morocco) as the city of the North African country held the 2019 African Games.

While the best karatekas in the continent demonstrated their abilities in the Karate competition at the African Games, representatives of the governing body of the African Karate Federation (UFAK) sat with Mr Espinós to review the progress of the sport in the region. Karate is one of the most popular disciplines in the continent, and initiatives were discussed to further expand the sport all over Africa.

President Espinós was also able to hear first-hand about the challenges that UFAK is facing as well as get the updates on the achievements within the continent.

“The progress of Karate in Africa is very important for the future of the sport and the WKF. I believe that many young athletes can benefit from the expansion of the sport in the continent, and I am convinced that Karate will continue growing in Africa with the help of the hard work by the UFAK,” said WKF President Antonio Espinós.
