WKF President meets head of Turkish Karate Federation in Pamplona

WKF and EKF President Antonio Espinós met the President of the Turkish Karate Federation Av Dr Aslan Abid Uguz in Pamplona ahead of the Karate 1-Series A event to be held in the Spanish city.

Mr Espinós travelled to Pamplona in the north of Spain to attend the opening Karate 1-Series A event of the year, and the first tournament of its kind in nearly two years.

On the eve of the start of the competition, the head of the World and European Karate organisations sat with the President of the Turkish Karate Federation (TKF) to discuss this year’s celebration of major international events in Turkey as well as other matters of interest.

Turkey is hosting two of the most anticipated tournaments of 2022. The city of Gaziantep is set to host the EKF Senior Championships from May 25 to 29 while the WKF Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships will go to the city of Konya from October 26 to 30. Additionally, the Karate competition of the Islamic Solidarity Games will also be held in Konya, from August 10 to 11.

WKF and EKF President Antonio Espinós said:

“Turkey is one of the biggest powerhouse nations of our sport, and it is always a pleasure to discuss the progress of Karate in the nation with TKF officials.  I want to thank TKF president Av Dr Aslan Abid Uguz for taking the time to travel to Pamplona and meet today.

I am convinced that the tournaments in Gaziantep and Konya later this year will be a tremendous success and they will help to raise the level of excellence of our sport.
