WKF President Highlights Level of Refereeing at 2024 Karate World Cup

All the referees officiating at the Karate World Cup gathered in Pamplona, Spain one last time before the start of the competition at the Referee Briefing of the event. The meeting, held on Thursday, brought together all 86 referees selected for the competition, ensuring thorough preparation for the challenges ahead.

The session was headed by World Karate Federation (WKF) President Antonio Espinós and managed by WKF Referee Commission Chairman Javier Escalante. It focused on reviewing the specific requirements and conditions of officiating at an event of this magnitude.

“The Karate World Cup demands excellence, not only from the athletes but also from the officials who oversee the matches. Having the best possible referees is critical, and I can confidently say that the referees here in Pamplona are the best of the best,” said WKF President.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your efforts to adapt to the ever-improving state of our sport. My gratitude also goes to Mr Escalante his crucial contribution in elevating the standard of refereeing in WKF competitions,” Mr Espinós added.

The referees on-site, thoroughly prepared through performance and evaluation, are ready to ensure fair and transparent competition in Pamplona at the year’s most important Karate event.
