WKF President discusses Karate’s progress in meeting with JSC Kazakhstan TV and Radio Corporation

WKF President Antonio Espinós visited the headquarters of the JSC Kazakhstan TV and Radio Corporation in Astana to analyse the development of Karate in the region and to discuss the upcoming Olympic debut of the sport.

WKF President Antonio Espinós visited the headquarters of the JSC Kazakhstan TV and Radio Corporation in Astana to analyse the development of Karate in the region and to discuss the upcoming Olympic debut of the sport.

Mr. Espinós was welcomed by Kazakhstan TV and Radio Corporation President Erlan Karin. WKF General Secretary Toshihisa Nagura and Kazakhstan Karate Federation Vice President Jastalap Sanauov were also in attendance. The meeting took place in Astana coinciding with the celebration of the 2017 Asian Senior, Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships.

"Karate is a popular sport in Kazakhstan nowadays. The fact that the Asian Championships are taking place in Astana for the first time is an honour for us. The Kazakhstan TV and Radio corporation will comprehensively support and cover the AKF Championship. It is very gratifying for us to see the important participation of Kazakhstan athletes in the tournament as it is a unique opportunity for them to show their level," said Mr. Karin.

“The strong support that our sport is receiving in Kazakhstan shows the magnitude of the development of Karate in the region. We have to thank the Kazakhstan Karate Federation for their hard work, and their contribution is highly valued in the bright future of our sport. The discussion we had today was really encouraging and I am excited about the future of Karate here in Kazakhstan. We have a clear strategic plan and I am convinced that the WKF will help the sport reach its immense global potential in years to come,” said WKF President Antonio Espinós.
