WKF General Secretary Meets with Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria to Discuss Progress of Karate

World Karate Federation (WKF) General Secretary Toshihisa Nagura met with the Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria Kazuyoshi Matsunaga at the WKF Secretary General's office in Tokyo to analyse ways to develop the sport further worldwide.

The main agenda of the meeting was to strengthen ties between the WKF and the Nigerian karate community. Ambassador Matsunaga, a karate enthusiast, has played a key role in the distribution of essential karate equipment, such as karate-gis, among Nigerian practitioners, and has actively supported the celebration of Karate events in the country such as the 3rd Ambassador’s Cup National Karate Championships.

During the meeting, General Secretary Nagura and Ambassador Matsunaga talked about the potential for hosting international karate competitions in Nigeria, as well as promoting the sport not only in the country but also globally.

A key highlight of the discussion was the Guardian Girls Karate Project, an initiative aimed at empowering young girls through karate, which was led by Mr Nagura and could have a potentially positive impact on many young girls and women in Nigeria.

The World Karate Federation continues to support and promote the growth of karate worldwide, and this meeting marks another step towards achieving that goal.
