2024-09-17
World Karate Federation Executive Committee member Ibrahim Al Gannas has been reappointed as a member of Saudi Arabia’s Shura Council (Parliament) for a new four-year term. His reappointment was confirmed by a royal decree issued by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in early September.
The Shura Council serves as the Kingdom’s formal advisory body, playing a crucial role in shaping policies and advising the King on national matters. Under the Shura Law, the council is comprised of 150 members, all appointed by the King. These members are selected based on their knowledge, expertise, and leadership in various fields, including academia, law, and governance.
Ibrahim Al Gannas is among those entrusted with this key role, and he will continue to contribute to the development of the country. His reappointment to one of the 150 seats highlights his distinguished career and extensive contributions to public service and sports management in the region.
A former public prosecutor, Mr. Al Gannas has held several influential positions in sports, including serving as the President of the Karate Federation of Saudi Arabia. He has been a member of the World Karate Federation (WKF) Executive Committee since 2014, and he leads the West Asian Karate Federation and the Arab Karate Federation.
