The WKF Athletes’ Commission chaired by former World champion and WKF Executive Committee member Davide Benetello has released a statement to inform karatekas of the most recent updates over the postponement of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

In a statement distributed to athletes and national federations, WKF Athletes’ Commission chairman Davide Benetello reviews the impact that the coronavirus outbreak is having on all kinds of activities and informs athletes of the close connection of all WKF stakeholders to evaluate the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic on the sport.

“Additionally, the IOC has also established the revised qualification principles for all sports as of yesterday (Wednesday 1st April), which need to be taken into consideration for evaluation of the current situation and ongoing steps,” Benetello points out in the statement.

“Considering the above, we would like to ask you to hold on until the appropriate adjustments have been made with the required formal approvals,” declared WKF’s Athletes’ Commission chairman.
