Preparations for the 2021 U21, Junior, Cadet European Championships were reviewed today at a meeting via videoconference.

Preparations for the 2021 U21, Junior & Cadet European Championships were reviewed today at a meeting via videoconference. WKF and EKF President Antonio Espinós headed the virtual meeting with the local organising committee joining remotely.

The 2021 U21, Junior & Cadet European Championships are scheduled to be held in Tampere (Finland) from August 20 to 22. The event is set to gather young karatekas from all over Europe, in the first competition to resume international tournaments after Karate’s debut at the Olympic Games.

The procedures to guarantee the safety and wellbeing of competitors and the effective application of the WKF COVID-19 Protocol were on top of the agenda. Provisions to make the best possible event amid the current circumstances were evaluated as the organisers aimed at hosting an outstanding celebration of youth Karate.

“Meetings like the one we had today are essential to ensure that the preparations for our top events go smoothly. I want to thank the local organising committee headed by Finland Karate Federation President Kimmo Koski for the time today and for their efforts to organise a first-class event. It is gratifying to attest that Karate is slowly going back to normal and that our top events are on the way to being successfully celebrated again,” said WKF and EKF President Antonio Espinós.
