The new episode of Karate’s Decades Best is a must for all Team Kata enthusiasts. The gold medal bout of Paris 2012 featuring legendary teams of Italy and Japan will be relived in the latest episode of Karate’s Decades Best to be launched on WKF YouTube channel next Friday, December 4.

The successful Italian Male Kata team spearheaded by icon Luca Valdesi and completed with Lucio Maurino and Vincenzo Figuccio faced the powerful Japanese side formed by Koji Arimoto, Takato Soma and Takumi Sugino for the crown of best Kata team in the world.

It was one of the most anticipated moments of the 2012 World Championships in Paris as the bout was a rematch of the gold medal clash of the 2010 World Championships in Belgrade. Two of the best Kata team in the history of the sport clashed in one of the most electric Team Kata performances of all times.

The memorable final will be reviewed by WKF Referee Commission secretary Robert Hamara and by former World champion and member of WKF Athletes’ Commission Nguyen Hoang Ngan, together with WKF TV Commentator Billy Brennan.

In addition to reliving the historic bout, Mr Hamara and Mrs Nguyen will discuss pressing topics such as the changes in kata rules, referees’ performance in key bouts as well as athletes’ preparation ahead of historic moments like the final of World Championships.

The sixth chapter of Series 2 of “Karate’s Decades Best” will be available on WKF YouTube Channel on Friday, December 4.
