Turkey top medal table at EKF Karate Championships for Regions

The city of Prishtina in Kosovo hosted the 15th edition of the EKF Karate Championships for Regions. After two thrilling days of competition, Turkish karatekas were proclaimed as the big winners of the event with a total of ten medals and three golds. Representatives from Montenegro and Italy also registered noteworthy performances.

After two thrilling days of competition, Turkish karatekas were proclaimed as the big winners of the event with a total of ten medals and three golds. Representatives from Montenegro and Italy also registered noteworthy performances. 

Karatekas from 12 countries gathered in Prishtina to take part in the competition in which athletes represent their regions of origin. Competitors coming from Turkey formed the largest delegation and they were also the most successful ones thus dominating some of the top categories. 

Karatekas from the Marmara Region in Turkey prevailed in Kumite Team Cadet and Junior Male and Female and in Male Team Kata. Meanwhile, representatives of Montenegro won gold in Female Team Kata and Kata Team Cadet and Junior Female. 

The rest of the categories were topped by Karate Federation Zurich from Switzerland winning in Female Team Kumite, Lazio Team from Italy getting gold in Kata Team Cadet and Junior Male and Macedonia Kumite Team prevailing in Male Team Kumite. 

The 15th EKF Karate Championships for Regions which were held in Kosovo will be the last edition of the event, since the competition will be discontinued in coming yeas, following the resolution of the EKF General Assembly which took place in Turkey in May.
