Turkey to host European Karate Championships for Regions

The city of Kocaeli in Turkey acts as stage of the 14th edition of the European Karate Championships for Regions. Karatekas from 33 countries will meet in the Sehit Polis Recep Topaloglu Arena to clash for gold in the unique event that gathers athletes representing their regions of origin.

Following the thrilling 50th Karate European Championships held in French city of Montpellier in May, Karate in the old continent has another date marked in red. For the fourteenth time, Karatekas from different regions of Europe will star in the anticipated quest for gold.

The competition will start on Saturday morning with the Kata Male and Female events. The tournament will continue throughout the weekend, until Sunday afternoon, when the last medals ceremonies and the closing event will take place.

The last edition of the European Karate Championship for Region took place in Paris in June 2015. The host country topped the final podium with a tally of six medals, followed by Spain and Turkey.
