Turkey and Jordan shine in day 2 of World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships

Youngsters demonstrated their outstanding abilities in the second day of competition of the 2019 World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships being held in Santiago (Chile). Athletes from Turkey and Jordan succeeded in day 2 of #KarateSantiago2019 with cadet categories taking the spotlight of the event.

After claiming two gold medals on the first day of competition, Turkey continued on top form and won two more titles today. Muserref Ozdemir opened the gold medal for the powerhouse nation following a slim 1-0 victory over Fatma Sorour of Egypt in Cadet Female Kumite -47kg. The triumphant path of Turkish karatekas continued in Cadet Male Kumite -63kg as Omer Faruk Yurur claimed a convincing victory by 6-0 over Latvia’s Arturs Stepanovs.
Jordanian karatekas also registered a successful day with two titles. On a memorable performance by the representatives of the Asian ry, Saeed Al Najjar and Mohammad Aljafari ‘s triumphs rocketed Jordan in the medal table of the event. Saeed Al Najjar became the world champion in Cadet Male Kumite -52kg after defeating Muhammed Oezdemir of Germany while Mohammad Aljafari took the title in Cadet Male Kumite -70kg after beating Egypt’s Hossam Ghonem.
Despite the defeat in the final of Cadet Male Kumite -70kg, the Egyptian delegation had reasons to celebrate since Basmala Hassan became the new world champion in Cadet Female Kumite -54kg. The young athlete who had the bronze medal at the Karate 1-Youth League Limassol as the best result defeated Adela Vlasakova of Slovakia 1-0.
In the last final of the day, Ethan Small of Canada used a late “Yuko” to claim the world crown of Cadet Male Kumite +70kg. The Canadian representative defeated Ibrahim Shamoun of Jordan 1-0 and became the first cadet World champion for the North American ry.
The gold medals taken by Aya Ouhra of Morocco in Cadet Female Kumite +54kg with her victory over Konstantina Chrysopoulou, and by Dominik Dziuda of Poland in Cadet Male Kumite -57kg after his triumph 3-1 over Enes Fatih Kurt of Turkey completed the list of winners today.
