The Karate 1 Premier League Paris concluded Sunday with a thrilling final day, crowning new stars and celebrating the triumphs of new heroes of the sport. Abdalla Abdelaziz, Maria Torres, Yorgelis Salazar and Eray Samdan were among the winners of the memorable event.  

Male Kumite -75kg: World champion Abdalla Abdelaziz prevails

In the Male Kumite -75kg category, Abdalla Abdelaziz of Egypt emerged victorious, defeating Enes Bulut of Turkiye 3-1. A seasoned Olympian and the reigning world and continental champion of the category, Abdelaziz showcased his dominance on the global stage.

 

Female Kumite -61kg: Atousa Golshadnezhad surprises favourites

The Female Kumite -61kg division saw Atousa Golshadnezhad of Iran claim the top spot, securing victory against Anita Serogina of Ukraine by "Hantei" or decision (1-1). Golshadnezhad, the current Asian champion, celebrated her first-ever Karate 1 Premier League title.

 

Male Kumite -60kg: Eray Samdan goes back to winning ways

Eray Samdan of Turkiye triumphed in the Male Kumite -60kg category, defeating Grand Winner Hiromu Hashimoto of Japan 3-1. Samdan, a six-time Karate 1 Premier League winner and current world championships bronze medallist, showcased his relentless determination and won his first international title since his victory at home at the 2022 EKF Senior Championships in Gaziantep (Turkiye).

 

Female Kumite -50kg: Yorgelis Salazar does it again

In the Female Kumite -50kg, Yorgelis Salazar of Venezuela emerged victorious, defeating Reem Ahmed Salama of Egypt 2-0. Salazar, the current Grand Winner and world championships bronze medallist, demonstrated her unmatched skill to continue dominating the category.

 

Female Kata: Maho Ono wins the All-Japan final

Maho Ono of Japan claimed victory in the Female Kata, beating Saeko Azuma of Japan with a score of 44.0 to 43.6. Ono, a one-time Karate 1 Premier League winner, secured gold at the event for the last time since her triumph in Cairo in 2021.

 

Male Kumite -84kg: Valerii Chobotar triumphs

Valerii Chobotar of Ukraine took the top spot in the Male Kumite -84kg, triumphing over Konstantinos Mastrogiannis of Greece by "Hantei" or decision (0-0). Chobotar, the current World Championships bronze medallist, celebrated his third Karate 1 Premier League victory.

 

Female Kumite -68kg: Thalya Sombe gives local fans reasons to celebrate

Thalya Sombe of France emerged as the winner in the Female Kumite -68kg, defeating Mobina Heydariozomcheloei of Iran 4-2. The 2022 U21 world champion showcased her skills as a first-time Karate 1 Premier League finalist and took the flag of the organising country to the top of the podium in a celebration of French Karate.

 

Male Kumite -67kg: Said Oubaya claims impressive victory

Said Oubaya of Morocco dominated in the Male Kumite -67kg, beating Luca Maresca of Italy 9-1. Oubaya, the current continental champion, celebrated his first Karate 1 Premier League victory in an outstanding demonstration of abilities and finishing the bout ahead of time.

 

Female Kumite -55kg: Airi Shima wins newcomers’ final

Airi Shima of Japan secured victory in the Female Kumite -55kg, defeating Mia Bitsch of Germany 2-0. Shima, a first-time Karate 1 Premier League finalist, added the biggest milestone to her career thus far after edging up-and-coming karateka Bitsch.

 

Male Kata: Grand Winner Kakeru Nishiyama shows strength

In the Male Kata, Kakeru Nishiyama of Japan emerged victorious, beating Ryuji Moto of Japan with scores of 45.10 to 43.60. Nishiyama, the defending Asian champion and World Championships bronze medallist, showcased his mastery in the discipline and used the Grand Winner status in his favour to continue ruling the division.

 

Female Kumite +68kg: Maria Torres takes hard-fought victory

Maria Torres of Spain claimed the top spot in the Female Kumite +68kg, defeating Rochelle Walters of England 5-1. Torres, the current World Championships runner-up and 2021 world title holder, displayed her dominance in the heavyweight category and defeated newcomer Walters.

 

Male Kumite +84kg: Taha Tarek Mahmoud dominates category

Taha Tarek Mahmoud of Egypt secured victory in the Male Kumite +84kg, defeating Anes Bostandzic of Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-1. Mahmoud, the number 1 in the WKF World Ranking, current World Championships runner-up, and a four-time Karate 1 Premier League winner, asserted his supremacy in the heavyweight division.

 

The Karate 1 Premier League Paris Grand Finale concluded with these outstanding performances, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the world of elite karate competition. Karate’s first-class series of events travels now to Antalya (Turkiye) where the second stop of the competition will be held from March 15 to 17.
