Three golds for Spain on Day 2 of #Karate1ACoruna

The second day of the competition of the 2023 Karate 1-Youth League A Coruna finished with hosts of Spain taking the spotlight after winning three gold medals.

Spain demonstrated their strength in Kata with the two gold medals at stake. Paula Garcia Lozano confirmed the predictions and added the gold in Junior Female Kata to her European Senior and Junior crowns after beating Mai-Linh Bui of France by 26.1 to 24.7.

 

In Junior Male Kata, the title also stayed in Spain as Ivan Martin defeated Luigi Matacchioni of Italy with scores of 25.8 and 24.5.

 

The success of the host country continued in Kumite since Mar Trenado Martinez became the champion of Junior Kumite Female -59kg. The local karateka beat Celya Retory of France in a tight final 4-4.

 

Powerhouse nation of Italy celebrated two gold medals today. Ludovica Legittimo claimed the title of Junior Kumite Female -48kg following a 4-1 victory over Polina Marchenko of Ukraine.

 

The second gold for Italy was taken by Emanuele Califano in Junior Kumite Male -61kg. The Italian karateka defeated Sultan Alqahtani of Saudi Arabia 7-2.

 

In Junior Kumite Female -53kg, Silya Abdesselem took the first crown of the tournament for France after beating Vianna Palomino of the United States 4-0 while Laura Sagynbek won the second title for Kazakhstan with a 3-1 triumph in the final of Junior Kumite Female -66kg over Slovakia’s Anna Vaczy.

 

It wasn’t Kazakhstan’s only gold today since Nurakhat Sattursyn won the crown in Junior Kumite Male -68kg, with a 2-0 triumph over Italy’s Raffaele Astarita.

 

The Junior Female Kumite categories were completed with Tunisia’s Meriame Ettaleb’s victory in the +66kg division. The representative of Tunisia beat Dariia Bulay of Ukraine 1-0.

 

In Junior Male Kumite, Balsa Vojinovic of Montenegro opened the gold medal count with his triumph in the -55kg category over Belgium’s Amin Abdelmalki (1-0) while Ricardo Franken of the Netherlands won the title in Junior Kumite Male -76kg, following an impressive 9-0 victory over Mikhail Adamaliev of Kyrgyzstan.

 

The gold medal count in Junior Male Kumite was wrapped up by Nikola Gondi of Croatia who won the title in the +76kg division after upsetting Yusuf Eren Temizel of Turkiye 1-0.
