Karate and the new normal: Successful age-group event in Croatia

Croatian Karate Union hosted its underage national championships.

Croatian Karate Union hosted its underage national championships, a massive celebration of the sport as Karate continues taking steps on return to normality.

Over 500 competitors from 120 clubs gathered in Rijeka (Croatia) for a successful age-group event. During two days of competition, young competitors showed their abilities and had the opportunity to compete again under the restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The event followed the WKF Covid-19 Guidelines and regulations imposed by the local authorities were applied. With social distancing enforced, and face masks mandatory for all the participants, among other measures, the tournament was regarded a success thus offering young karatekas the chance to go back to competition.

One of the most active national federations in the return to the “new normal”, Croatia Karate Union organised the age-group event in Rijeka nearly a month after hosting a massive senior competition celebrated in the Medjimurje región
