Stanislav Horuna of Ukraine is Karates candidate to The World Games Athlete of the Year 2019. The Ukrainian Karate Star has been nominated by the WKF to be the best athlete of 2019 of all the sports in The World Games programme. The winner will be decided by public vote.

Born in the west Ukrainian city of Lviv, Stanislav Horuna is one of the most admired and followed karateka in the world. The athlete who celebrated his 31st birthday last week takes the sixth place in Karate?s Olympic standings and is number 4 in WKF World ranking.

In 2019, the affable athlete won six medals including golds at the Karate 1-Premier League Rabat and the Karate 1-Series A Santiago. His biggest achievement so far was the European Games crown which he took last year in Minsk (Belarus). In one of the highlights of the event, Horuna defeated legend Rafael Aghayev in the final of Male Kumite -75kg thus becoming one of the heroes of the tournament.



Horuna balances his Karate career with his work as a lawyer in his home town of Lviv. He achieved one of the most outstanding moments of his prolific run at Karate?s highest level in 2017, when he reached the top of the podium of The World Games 2017 in Wroclaw (Poland). In a memorable final, the Ukrainian ace defeated Iran?s Aliashgar Asiabari 4-2, much to the celebration of his ample followers all around the world.

Sporting a unique hairstyle, an ever-gracious attitude on and off the tatami, and a flashy and spectacular style of fighting, Horuna is one of the most revered representatives of the sport; it is not unusual to see him surrounded by numerous crowds at international events. Now, he is hoping to receive all the votes of the Karate family to become The World Games Athlete of the Year 2019.
