Spain continue impressing in #Karate1ACoruna

The third day of action at the 2023 Karate 1-Youth League A Coruna crowned karatekas from the host country who continued performing at an impressive level at home. 

After their successful performance on Day 2, local karatekas continued taking the flag of the organising country to the top of the podium. Julia Just won the gold in Cadet Kumite Female -61kg after defeating Natalia Balut of Poland 6-1 while Jorge Perez became the champion of Cadet Kumite Male -52kg following a 6-2 victory over Maksym Viechkanov of Ukraine.

 

Iker Leal wrapped up the impressive day for Spain with the title of Cadet Kumite Male -70kg. The promising Spaniard defeated Aymeric Araminthe Citronnelle of France 2-1.

 

Hosts of Spain were also on the brink of winning the title in Cadet Kumite Female -47kg. However, Agnes Nyman upset Irene Moreno in the final 3-0.

 

Greece’s Athina Tsiakmaki claimed the gold medal of Cadet Kata Female after defeating Ines Ordonez of France by 24.6 to 24.1 while Wahib Jonas Abu of Germany caused an upset by beating local hopeful Izan Lopez in Cadet Kata Male (26.0 to 24.9)

 

Germany added one more gold medal to their list as Alexandra Wolf won the crown in Cadet Kumite Female -54kg. The German athlete beat Valentina Marrucci of Italy by “Hantei” or decision (0-0).

 

Ukraine celebrated more gold medals today as Nazarii Prannychuk won the gold in Cadet Kumite Male -57kg against teammate Roman Stadolskii (2-0) and Nazarii Ozorba was the winner of Cadet Kumite -63kg following a 7-3 triumph over Ben Heller of Germany.

 

The list of winners in Cadet Kumite was completed with Amalie Hakova of the Czech Republic who won the crown in the Female +66kg division with a 6-4 triumph over Robin Zwanenburg of the Netherlands, and Adam Tadjer of France who took the title in the Male +70kg category with a slim triumph 2-2 over teammate Ihsane Adjanonhouin.
