Sandra Sanchez elected to chair of IWGA's Athlete's Committee

Olympic Games gold medallist and two-time World Champion Sandra Sanchez of Spain has been appointed the chairperson of the newly created Athlete’s Committee of the International World Games Association.

Sanchez who is also the current champion of The World Games was confirmed as the head of the athlete's representative body of the organisation at the last IWGA Executive Committee meeting.

The Spaniard is one of the most decorated Karate athletes in the world, with two World crowns, seven continental titles, 19 gold medals in Karate 1-Premier League and the gold medal at the Olympic Games under her belt.

Karate is one of the founding sports of The World Games and has been part of the programme of the multi-sport event since its onset in 1981.
