Road to Pamplona 2024: List of teams qualified for #KaratePamplona2024 announced

The World Karate Federation is pleased to announce the list of national teams that have earned the qualification to the 2024 World Senior Team Championships.

After the memorable 2023 World Karate Championships in Budapest, no less than 20 national teams have garnered a direct ticket to participate in the first edition of the World Team Championships.

According to the qualification rules for the event, the top four ranked squads in each of the four team categories at #KarateBudapest2023, earn a direct pass to participate in the event to be held next year in Pamplona (Spain).

Following the results of #KarateBudapest2023, all the squads that won medals in the four team categories of the event, in addition to the host country of Spain, qualified for #KaratePamplona2024. As Spain finished among the top four in Female Team Kumite, Female Team Kata, and Male Team Kata, the substitution criteria establish that the teams of Hungary, Morocco, and Kuwait, respectively, win the ticket for next year’s event.

Therefore, the squads that are already qualified for #KaratePamplona2024 are:

The rest of the teams to complete the total of 80 participating squads in the next edition of the World Championships will come from the Continental Championships. A total of 20 teams will qualify for the event at the EKF Championships. These 20 teams will come from the five top-ranked teams in the four team categories.

In the case of the AKF, PKF, and UFAK, 12 teams will qualify in each of these three continental championships. The squads that win gold, silver, and the first bronze medallist (the bronze medallist that lost to the gold winner) in each one of the four categories will earn the ticket to #KaratePamplona2024. This situation applies to the continental championships in Asia, the Americas, and Africa.

Meanwhile, four teams will qualify at the OKF Championships. The winner of each team division at the Oceanian continental championships will make it to the World event.

The 2024 World Senior Team Championships will open a new era for the sport, as team and individual championships are now separated. The first edition of the World Team Championships is scheduled to be held in Pamplona (Spain) from November 22 to 24, 2024.
