Portugal and England dominate Cadet categories at #Karate1Merida

Cadet divisions took the stage on day 3 of the 2023 Karate 1-Youth League Merida. Representatives of Portugal and England dominated the category with two gold medals each.

Rita Marques opened the gold medal count for Portugal with her title in Cadet Kata Female and teammate Ema Pineu Fernandes took the Portuguese flag to the top of the podium in Cadet Kumite Female -47kg.

English karatekas prevailed today as Thomas Klemz won the crown of Cadet Kata Male, and Zachary Attard dominated Cadet Kumite Male -52kg.

Neighbour country of the United States also celebrated victories on day 3 of #Karate1Merida. Charlotte Singleton claimed the crown of Cadet Kumite -61kg, while Mariana Guerrero of Canada won the title in Cadet Kumite Female +61kg.

After winning their first gold on Day 2, powerhouse nations of Turkiye and France added more titles today through Nehir Kilic’s triumph in Cadet Kumite Female -54kg, and France’s Adam Tadjer’s victory in Cadet Kumite Male +70kg.

Following their successful run on day 2, Slovakia also celebrated more victories at the event. Richard Turcanik won the title in Cadet Kumite Male -70kg.

Germany’s Heidar Safi in Cadet Kumite Male -57kg and Alonso Pavez of Chile in Cadet Kumite Male -63kg completed the list of gold medals today.

The #Karate1Merida concludes Sunday with the last categories at stake.
