PKF hosts massive youth camp ahead of World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships

The Pan American Karate Federation (PKF) organised the 2022 Youth Training Camp in Mexico. The activity was held in Mexico City on the occasion of the 2022 PKF age-group Championships and aimed to prepare young athletes from the Americas for their participation in the upcoming 2022 World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships to be held in Konya (Turkey) next October.

No less than 71 participants from 21 countries were gathered in Mexico City for the activity. Organised by the PKF in cooperation with the Mexican Karate Federation and supported by Pan Am Sports, the youth camp was a 10-day event aiming to strengthen the capabilities of the young karatekas through technical and tactical evaluations, as well as to stimulate the development of the athletes towards high performance and achievements as the promising karatekas transition to from underage competitions to senior categories.

The official kick-off of the camp gathered all the participants and was chaired by WKF Assistant General Secretary and PKF Treasurer Jose Antonio Mendez, with the Mexican Karate Federation president Samantha Desciderio also in attendance.

WKF President Antonio Espinós said:

“The support and progress of younger generations have always been at the core of the development of our sport due to Karate’s tremendous popularity among young ages. Activities such as the PKF Youth Training Camp in Mexico contribute to this goal and help maximise the opportunities for the upcoming generations of athletes.

“I want to thank the PKF and its President José García Maañón and PKF and WKF Executive Committee member José Antonio Méndez, as well as FEMEKA president Samantha Desciderio for their efforts to put our young karatekas at the forefront of the progress of our sport.”
