Revamped Karate 1-Premier League marks dawn of new era for the sport

The global Karate community is eagerly anticipating the start of the Karate 1-Premier League. The spotlight event, slated to take place in Paris from January 26 to 28, promises to set the stage for a thrilling journey through the world of elite Karate.

This year's edition of the Karate 1-Premier League is poised to be a groundbreaking affair; it not only signifies a fresh start for Karate’s first-class series of events but also heralds a new era for the sport, thanks to the revamped structure of the World Championships.

With the World Championships splitting into Team and Individual events, one of the key highlights of this season is the qualification for the first Individual World Championships, to be held in Cairo (Egypt) in 2025. The Karate 1-Premier League events have been strategically integrated into this qualifying mechanism, elevating their significance to unprecedented heights. Athletes from across the globe will vie for victory not only to secure a coveted spot on the podium in Paris and in the quest to become the new “Grand Winners," but also to solidify their positions on the road to Cairo.

The enthusiasm of the Karate community ahead of the new season is reflected in the full registration of athletes for the event in Paris. With all the categories filled to completion and athletes from no less than 60 countries travelling to the capital of France, the successful outcome and the sporting spirit of the event are guaranteed.

Moreover, the forthcoming competition promises to deliver an unforgettable sporting experience, since the best athletes in the world have confirmed their presence in Paris. No less than 71% of the karatekas who are ranked among the Top 32 of the WKF World Ranking have registered for the event across all the categories. In a demonstration of the outstanding level of the competition, no less than 82% of the athletes among the Top 10 of the WKF World Ranking across all the categories will compete in Paris.

As anticipation builds for the Paris event, Karate enthusiasts can expect the same level of excitement in the rest of the Karate 1-Premier League of the season. After Paris, Karate’s first-class series of events will travel to Antalya (Turkiye), Cairo (Egypt) and Casablanca (Morocco).
