New head of Mediterranean Karate Federations Union appointed

The Congress of the Mediterranean Karate Federations Union (MKFU) was held this past weekend in Tunis, on the eve of the 2023 Mediterranean Karate Championships. The President and Executive Committee members of the organisation were elected at the meeting.
WKF Vice President Bechir Cherif was designated to continue leading the organization for a new six-year term. The three new Vice Presidents are Davor Cipek (CRO), Antonio Moreno (ESP), and Mohamed Mouktabil (MAR).
The plenary session of the MKFU gathered representatives of the National Federations of the 26 Mediterranean countries as the championships were being held during the weekend. The Congress also approved the appointment of Andreas Vasileiou (CYP) as Secretary General, Mohey Eldin Mohammed (EGY) as Treasurer, and Colaiacomo Cinzia (ITA), Stavrianidis Stavros (GRE), Yaser Sahinteki (TUR), Slavoljub Piper (SER), Murati Besnik-(MKD), Issam Abderraouf (EGY), and Jihad Maya (SYR) as Executive Committee members.
WKF and EKF President Antonio Espinós said:

The Mediterranean Karate Federations Union has been doing a tremendous job in raising the profile of Karate in their countries as it is showcased in the events they host. I want to thank Bechir Cherif for his re-election to lead the organisation, and the new Executive Committee members for their appointment. I am sure that with their hard work and cooperation, Karate will continue being one of the most popular sports in the region.”
