Meet the new Grand Winner in the category of Female Kumite -68kg: Irina Zaretska of Azerbaijan.
One of the most decorated athletes of today’s Karate, Irina Zaretska recovered the Grand Winner award after completing impressive performances throughout the season.
The current World champion started the season with a gold medal at the opening event in Fujairah. Zaretska reached the final again in the second event in Matosinhos, but ended up taking the silver medal. After finishing in fifth place in Rabat, the Olympian went back to winning ways in Baku, where she claimed the gold medal. In Cairo, she took the bronze medal.
The Ukrainian-born athlete is one of the biggest stars of Karate. The 26-year-old karateka is a two-time World champion, 2021 European titleholder, and Olympic Games silver medallist.
In Karate 1-Premier League, Zaretska has shown her efficiency after taking no less than 11 gold medals. She is a three-time Grand Winner as she won the award in 2019, and 2017, and now again in 2022.
