New Caledonia top medal table of Karate at Pacific Games

Karatekas from New Caledonia dominated the Karate competition of the Sol2023 Pacific Games. The Karate competition of the multisport event concluded Friday and demonstrated the popularity of Karate in the region.
The team and Open categories took the stage on the final day. The big winners of New Caledonia added one more gold to their ample list of honours after claiming the title of Female Kata Team over the Solomon Islands. The representatives of New Caledonia also won the crown in Male Kata Team this time beating Nauru.
In Team Kumite, New Caledonia also showed strength with the title in the Female category, defeating the hosts of the Solomon Islands. The same final and the same result were presented in Male Team Kumite, with one more gold for New Caledonia.
Lara Rosita Le Mestre of New Caledonia became one of the stars of the event since she was proclaimed the winner of the Female Open Kumite category. The karateka from New Caledonia defeated teammate Aurore Lucie Vaysset in the final.
Meanwhile, the star in Male Kumite was New Caledonia’s Dylan Emmanuel Agamalu who claimed the Open divisions following a hard-fought victory over teammate Iwe Rene Hmana.
