The second day of competition of the 2020 UFAK Senior & Junior Karate Championships crowned Moroccan representatives who took the organising nation to the top of the medal table after a successful performance at the continental event being held in Tangier (Morocco).

Athletes from Morocco were on top form today and succeeded with six hard-fought gold medals. Hiba Fellaoui became continental champion in Cadet Kumite Male -47kg while Zaid Boudouche took the title in Cadet Kumite Male -52kg. Maryam Ajaray continued the outstanding day for hosts since she claimed gold in Junior Kumite Female +59kg, followed by Sawsane Benchbab’s victory in Cadet Kumite Female -54kg. The sweeping performance of Morocco was continued by Aya Ouhra in Cadet Kumite Female +54kg as Hanane Mellal completed the golden day for the organising country with the title in Junior Female Kumite -59kg.

While the two powerhouse nations of the sport in Africa continued their duel for the domination of the discipline in the continent, Egyptian representatives also bagged top titles today. Youssef Farag claimed the crown in Cadet Kumite Male -63kg, Hassan Elshazly won gold in Cadet Kumite Male -70kg, and Amr Shokry Belal took the title in Cadet Kumite Male +70kg. 

Other nations also had the chance to shine today in Tangier. Mohamed Sallami of Tunisia prevailed in Cadet Kumite Male -57kg, and Anis Ayoub Helassa achieved the first big win for Algeria in Junior Kumite Male -55kg. The second title for Algeria was taken by Louiza Abouriche who became continental champion in Junior Kumite Female -53kg
