The 2023 Karate 1-Youth League A Coruna started Thursday with day 1 of the anticipated competition. Over 2500 young athletes from 72 countries have gathered in A Coruna to demonstrate the strength of Karate in young ages.

The popularity of Karate at youth events is once again showcased as the tournament in A Coruna continues the impressive participation records of previous Karate 1-Youth League competitions.

The tournament is held at Pabellon Riazor sports hall, where eight tatamis have been placed to accommodate the large number of competitors.

Day 1 of the competition puts U21 categories in the spotlight. The clashes begin at 9:00 and the finals are scheduled from 19:40.

Junior divisions will take the stage on Friday, while Cadet and U14 categories will be held on Saturday and Sunday. The finals take place at the end of each competition day.

The event will also evaluate the strength of the grassroots programmes of the powerhouse nations of the sport. Leading countries of Egypt, Kazakhstan, and Saudi Arabia topped the medal table of the opening event in Fujairah with five gold medals respectively.
