The 2021 Karate World Senior Championships will introduce a modified competition calendar. 

The 2021 Karate World Senior Championships will introduce a modified competition calendar to maximise the interest of the event among fans and to streamline the coverage of the competition on television.

Unlike previous World Championships, the tournament will start with the category of Male Kumite +84kg. The opening day features the elimination rounds of the categories Male Kumite +84kg, -84kg, and -75kg, and Female Kumite +68kg and -68kg.

The “lighter” divisions take the stage on day 2, with the categories of Female Kumite -61kg, -55kg, and -50kg, and Male Kumite -67kg and -60kg taking the spotlight.

Kata fans will have day 3 marked in red as the elimination rounds of the two Kata categories are scheduled to be held on Thursday. Day 3 also has the repechages of individual Kumite divisions and the first rounds of Team Kumite on the schedule.

Friday will be the last day of eliminations. Day 4 will feature the elimination rounds of Team Kata and Team Kumite.

The quest to the medals are slated for Saturday and Sunday. Day 5 is centred mainly on individual categories. The bronze medal matches of the individual divisions and Team Kata will be held from 10:00 to 14:10 while the gold medal bouts are planned from 16:00 to 18:40.

One of the main updates of the competition calendar of #KarateDubai2021 affects the Para-Karate competition.

All the Para-Karate categories will be held on Sunday morning. Both the eliminations and finals of the Para-Karate are scheduled for Day 6 from 09:00 to 14:00.

The afternoon session of day 6 is devoted to the finals of the Team competition with the new champions of Team Kata and Team Kumite to be decided before the closing ceremony which is tentatively planned for Sunday at 20:00.

All the periods are set in local time (GMT +4). The calendar is tentative depending on the final inscription of the competitors which will be confirmed at the registration on Monday, November 15.
