Karate to highlight values of sport at 2023 World Combat Games

The sport of Karate will be part of the 2023 edition of the World Combat Games, to be held in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) next October.

Once again, Karate will be able to showcase its tremendous added value in multi-sport events as it returns to the programme of the World Combat Games.

This anticipated multi-sport competition gather the most thrilling combat sports and martial arts in an event which aims to be the perfect bridge between elite sports and local communities.  

The Karate tournament is scheduled for October 20 and 21, and it is limited to competitors of the U21 categories in both Kata and Kumite. Eight competitors per division will participate in the event.

No less than 35 disciplines form the 2023 World Combat Games. Over 2500 athletes and officials are expected to travel to Riyadh for the event. 

The last edition of the World Combat Games was held in 2013 in St Petersburg (Russia). France topped the medal table of the event with a total of four medals and two golds. Azerbaijan and Japan also registered deserving performances. No less than 21 countries went home with medals in the Karate competition. 

Legends of the sport such as Antonio Diaz of Venezuela, Rafael Aghayev of Azerbaijan, Serap Ozcelik Arapoglu of Turkiye, and Miki Kobayashi of Japan were among the gold medallists of the tournament.

2023 WORLD COMBAT GAMES
