Karate ready to take stage at Pan American Games

The moment has finally arrived and the best karatekas of the Americas are ready to make their debut at the 2019 Pan American Games. The anticipated Karate competition at the Pan American Games beings on Friday, August 9th. The quest to crown the kings and queens of Pan American karate is about to start. 

The Kata categories will open the Karate tournament in Lima. The competition is scheduled to begin at 10.00 (local time) with the elimination rounds of Female Kata. The first stages of Male Kata and Team Kata will follow as the first finals of the anticipated event will close the first day. The title-deciding bout of Female Kata will be held at 15.20, the final of Male Kata is scheduled for 15.20 and the last bouts of Team Kata will wrap up the day. 

The competition will resume on Saturday with the categories of Female Kumite -50kg, Female Kumite -55kg, Male Kumite -84kg, and Female Kumite -61kg. The finals of the female categories are set to begin at 15.20 and the title-deciding bouts of the male categories will start at 15.30. 

The last day of competition will be held on Sunday, with the categories of Female Kumite -68kg, Female Kumite +68kg, Male Kumite -75kg, Male Kumite -60kg and Male Kumite -67kg. The finals of the female categories will begin at 13.20 and the last bouts of male categories are set to start at 13.30. 

Many Karate Stars are hoping to shine this weekend in Lima. Local hopeful and defending title-holder Alexandra Grande aims at taking the flag of the organising country to the top of the podium while Antonio Diaz of Venezuela hopes to extend his record-breaking tally of awards in Lima. Current title-holders Douglas Brose of Brazil, Thomas Scott of the USA, and Franklin Mina of Ecuador in male categories, and Ana Villanueva of the Dominican Republic, Valeria Kumizaki of Brazil and Valeria Echever of Ecuador in female competition are among the front-runners of the thrilling competition.
