Karate 1-Premier League underway in Salzburg

The city of Salzburg is hosting this weekend the thrilling fifth event of the 2016 Karate 1-Premier League. More than 700 Karate athletes are already clashing for glory in a competition that gathers top Karatekas around the world.

 

Salzburg is hosting this weekend the thrilling fifth event of the 2016 Karate 1-Premier League. More than 700 Karate athletes are already clashing for glory in a competition that gathers top Karatekas from around the world.

The tournament started on Friday afternoon with the Male and Female Team and Individual competitions. The categories marked by concentration, intensity and precision took the stage in the first day of the anticipated event in Salzburg thus offering fans the opportunity to see in action some of the best Karate Stars.

One highlight of the Karate 1-Premier League in Salzburg will occur on Sunday, when two of the top Karatekas of the moment will clash for gold in the Male Kata competition. Pan American champion Antonio Diaz from Venezuela will be in the final of the tournament against European champion Spain’s Damian Quintero. The two Karate Stars will showcase their abilities in a sensational quest for glory to be staged this Sunday.

The two-times World champion Antonio Diaz reached the final after defeating Tsz Man Chris Cheng from Hong Kong, while the gold medallist in the 2016 Karate 1-Premier League events in Rotterdam and Dubai defeated Hungary’s Szabolcs Koch to be in his third consecutive Karate 1-Premier League final.

The Female Kata competition will present an all-Japanese final as two top Karatekas from the Asian country will meet in the title-deciding clash. Karate Star Kiyou Shimizu will try to extend her domination in the category by reaching her six consecutive gold medal in international competitions. On the other side of the tatami, the world champion will clash against Emiri Iwamoto. The gold medallist of the 2016 Karate 1-Premier League in Rotterdam aims at achieveing her third top of the podium in Karate 1-Premier League events.

In Female Team Kata, representatives from Vietnam will clash against Slovak Karatekas, while in Male Team Kata, Hong Kong will face Croatia.
