Inspiring Para-Karate Competition Takes Spotlight of #KarateBudapest2023

The third day of action at the 2023 World Karate Championships in Budapest (Hungary) showcased Karate’s tremendous social contribution and the sporting spirit of the sport at the Para-Karate competition. Athletes from Egypt and Spain dominated Para-Karate as the mighty para-karatekas qualified for the finals.
Current World and European champion of Intellectually Impaired Female K21 Olivia Kakosy will defend her crown at home in Budapest. The local Para-Karate star qualified for the final after topping the elimination pool with a score of 39.9.
Her rival in the final is Lucia Sanchez of Spain who is the current World Championships bronze medallist and Continental Championships runner-up. The Spaniard topped the pool with a score of 40.4.
Two athletes from Egypt will clash for gold in Intellectually Impaired Female K22. Nadin Youssef and Salma Alaaedin Ebrahim will fight for the title. Youssef is the current World Championships bronze medallist and headed the pool with a score of 38.7. Meanwhile, Ebrahim who is the defending titleholder took a score of 38.7 in the elimination pool.
The finalists of Intellectually Impaired Male K21 were Albert Singer of Germany and Carlos Huertas Ruiz of Spain while in Male K22 Mattia Allesina of Italy and Ahmed Elbeltagy of Egypt will fight for gold.
In the Blind/Visually Impaired category the final of K10 Female will see Emiliya Mitlinova of Azerbaijan and Veronika Kamenska of Czech Republic going for gold. In K10 Male, the title-deciding bout will be between Yasushi Oba and Toshihiro Imai, both from Japan.
The final Wheelchair User Female will have the main favourites clashing for the crown. Current continental and World Champion Isabel Fernandez of Spain qualified for another final where she will meet Knarik Airapetian of Ukraine.
The gold medal in Wheelchair User Male K30 will have defending champion Abdelaziz Abouelnaga of Egypt and Valerio Di Cocco of Italy clashing for gold.
