Guardian Girls Karate Seminar Empowers Women in Curacao

A Guardian Girls Karate seminar was held last week in Curaçao. The activity, integrated into the Guardian Girls Global Karate project, successfully empowered nearly 30 women through a unique and impactful training program.

This seminar was organised by the Curacao Karate Federation in cooperation with the World Karate Federation (WKF) and was led by WKF-certified instructor Danielle Chang.

The Guardian Girls WKF Global Karate Project is a significant worldwide social initiative designed to promote gender equality and empower women and girls. This project, created by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Koyamada International Foundation (KIF), and the World Karate Federation (WKF), aims to equip women with the skills and confidence to defend themselves against all forms of gender-based violence through the discipline of karate.

At the activity in Curacao, Instructor Danielle Chang, who earned the certification at the Instructors’ Course in Madrid, Spain last December, guided the participants through various techniques and strategies, emphasizing both physical skills and mental resilience.

The event took place in Curacao during the 7th Caribbean Karate and marks a significant milestone in the global expansion of the Guardian Girls WKF Global Karate Project, continuing the momentum built during its first stage of presentations in 2023.
