Future of Karate in the Americas Gathers at 2024 PKF Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships in Sao Paulo

The 2024 PKF Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships are set to bring together the most promising young karatekas from across the Americas. From August 28 to 31, nearly 1,000 athletes from 26 countries will compete in Sao Paulo, Brazil, showcasing the growing popularity and talent in the sport of karate among the continent’s youth.
This year's event marks another milestone for karate in the Americas. The impressive number of participants highlights the sport's ever-increasing appeal to younger generations. With almost 1,000 youngsters registered, this competition is a testament to the sport's vibrant presence in the region.
Sao Paulo will play host to this prestigious event. Brazil has long been recognised as a powerhouse in the world of karate, and its history of hosting major international events underscores its importance in the sport. In 2018, the PKF Junior, Cadet, & U21 Championships were successfully held in Rio de Janeiro, drawing in competitors from across the Americas. Furthermore, the country has hosted Karate 1 Premier League events in Sao Paulo in 2015 and in Fortaleza in 2016. Brazil’s deep connection to karate on the global stage was also solidified when it hosted the 1998 World Senior Championships in Rio de Janeiro.
The last edition of the PKF Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships took place in 2023 in Santiago, Chile. The event saw over 900 athletes from 24 countries clashing for the titles. The United States emerged as the dominant force, topping the medal table with 35 medals, including 13 golds. Brazil followed closely with 34 medals, while Venezuela secured third place with 28 medals.
The event promises to be a thrilling showcase of karate’s rising stars. With such a rich history and a promising line-up of talent, the 2024 PKF Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships in Sao Paulo is an event not to be missed.
