European Karate Federation receives EUSA special award

European Karate Federation President Antonio Espinós received today the Special Award by the European University Sports Association (EUSA). The award recognises the close partnership and cooperation of the EKF with the continental sports organisation in raising the profile of Karate in European university. 

European Karate Federation President Antonio Espinós received today the Special Award by the European University Sports Association (EUSA). The award recognises the close partnership and cooperation of the EKF with the continental sports organisation in raising the profile of Karate in European university. 

The honours are given to entities and personalities that have made a significant contribution to the development of sports at the university level. The award was presented on Friday at the EUSA Gala which was held in Madrid (Spain). The celebrations took place in the Spanish capital as a part of the EUSA General Assembly which is currently underway in the Iberian nation.  

The event also had the participation of EKF General Secretary Stjepan Celan and EUSA Karate Technical Director and secretary of the Croatian Karate Federation Davor Cipek who represented Karate at the EUSA General Assembly. The President of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) Janez Kocijančič and the President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Oleg Matytsin were also in attendance at the gala. 

“Thank you very much for this award. I would like to express my gratitude to EUSA and its president Adam Roczek for considering the EKF for this recognition. It is not only a big honour for the European Karate Federation but for all the Karate family. The promotion and development of our sport at underage and university levels have always been at the core of our values. This recognition encourages us to continue contributing to the development of Karate in the university sporting landscape,” said EKF and WKF president Antonio Espinós.
