EKF Commissions meet to ensure progress of European Karate amid coronavirus

The Commissions of the European Karate Federation met Tuesday as the 2021 EKF Senior Championships are about to start in Porec (Croatia). The progress of the sport amid the coronavirus pandemic was on top of the agenda of the meetings.
The round of gatherings started with the EKF Medical Commission and the revision of the WKF COVID-19 Protocol to be implemented at the event together with all the different health matters ahead of the European Championships.
The EKF Technical Commission also met today as they overviewed the different technical elements of the Karate tournament and updates on the competition system as well as recommendations to improve the flow of the event.

Likewise, the Referee Commission took the opportunity to sit and analyse the judging matters of the sport while ensuring the best possible refereeing level for the crucial Karate event of this week.
“The importance of the EKF Commissions cannot be overstated. They are doing a crucial job to lay the groundwork for the progress of our organisation, and together with the proactivity of our National Federations, they constitute the foundation of EKF’s success. I want to thank all the members attending the meetings today for their work. I am sure that with their efforts we can guarantee that the influence of Karate in Europe will continue increasing for years to come,” said EKF and WKF President Antonio Espinós.

REFEREE BRIEFING PUT FOCUS ON PARA-KARATE
All the referees to officiate this week in Porec gathered one final time before the start of the event at the referees briefing. In addition to reviewing the main elements of refereeing ahead of the tournament, as well as analysing the particularities of the event from the judging perspective, the meeting of all the referees was an opportunity to put the focus on Para-karate.
The updated rules of the Para-karate competition were overviewed. In order to give referees a complete perspective of the Para-karate competition, representatives of the Para-karate athletes attended the meeting to help with the explanations. The members of the EKF Technical Commission were also present thus demonstrating the importance of the interaction among the different bodies of the organisation.
