One of the most memorable bouts of the 2010 World Championships, the final of Male Kumite -75kg had two Karate legends clashing for the gold medal. Rafael Aghayev of Azerbaijan reached the final after becoming the true star of the previous edition of the World Championships when he won the gold medals in Male Kumite -70kg and Male Open. Meanwhile, Luigi Busa who had won the world title in Male Kumite -80kg in 2006 reached his first final of Male Kumite -75kg. The result was an outstanding final bout.

The programme of the day also reviews the thrilling bronze medal bout of Female Kumite -68kg featuring Heba Adelrahman (EGY) vs Hafsa Seyda Buruc (TUR). The clash had a surprising outcome which should not be missed by Karate fans.

UNFORGETTABLE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2010 World Championships in Belgrade showcased the true magnitude of first-class karate events. It was the first Senior World Championships that had five competition days in order to accommodate the increasing number of competitors participating at the event.

No less than 875 athletes from 88 countries took part in the tournament. This number represented a record-breaking tally of assistance to Karate’s biggest event. Hosts of Serbia topped the final medal table with four medals including three golds, with Italy and Japan also registering deserving performances with seven medals respectively. Nearly 30 countries went home with medals.
