Day 2 of #Karate1Antalya Unveils Top Contenders to Clash for Gold

The 2024 Karate 1 Premier League in Antalya entered its second day with an electrifying display of skill and determination as the world's best karate athletes vied for victory in six different categories. Olympians Ariel Torres and Elena Quirici and World Championships runner-up Maria Torres are among the heroes of the day.

Male Kata: Torres and Nishiyama to Clash in Intense Final Showdown

In a thrilling finale of the category of Male Kata, Ariel Torres of the United States will go head-to-head against Grand Winner Kakeru Nishiyama of Japan. Olympic Games bronze medallist Torres edged out Sakichi Abe of Japan with a score of 43.00 to 42.60, while Nishiyama who is the current Grand Winner and gold medallist in the opening event in Paris secured his spot in the final by defeating Kazumasa Moto of Japan with a score of 41.80 to 43.50.

 

Female Kumite -68kg: Grejner and Quirici Secure Final Spots

Poland's Wiktorija Grejner outmanoeuvred Pamela Bodei of Italy with a score of 4-2, while Elena Quirici of Switzerland triumphed over Silvia Semeraro of Italy with a narrow 1-0 victory. The clash for gold on Sunday will be Quirici?s whopping 17th appearance in a final of Karate 1-Premier League.

 

Male Kumite -67kg: Oubaya andMaresca to Repeat Final of #Karate1Paris

Fresh of his triumph in Paris, Morocco's Said Oubaya showcased his dominance with a commanding 11-4 win over Yugo Kozaki of Japan, while Luca Maresca of Italy secured a hard-fought victory against Abdurrahim Ozer Omer of Turkiye with a score of 8-6. Oubaya and Maresca will relive the final of the opening event in Paris where the athlete of Morocco claimed the title.

 

Female Kumite -55kg: Samasheva and Lallo Advance to the Final

Newcomer Bella Samasheva of Kazakhstan engaged in a tense battle, ending with a 4-4 triumph against Syria Mancinelli of Italy, while Viola Lallo of Italy secured her place in the final with a close 5-4 victory over Louiza Abouriche of Algeria.

 

Female Kumite +68kg: Torres and Kneer Triumph in Semifinals

After her victory in Paris, Maria Torres of Spain continues on top form as she secured a narrow victory against Chehinez Jemi of Tunisia with a score of 2-1. Meanwhile, Johanna Kneer of Germany dominated her match against Sofya Berultseva of Kazakhstan with a convincing 11-3 win.

 

Male Kumite +84kg: Kvesic and Mahmoud Secure Final Showdown

Andjelo Kvesic of Croatia clinched a tight victory over Rob Timmermans of Curacao with a score of 2-1, while Taha Tarek Mahmoud of Egypt emerged victorious against Anes Bostandzic of Bosnia and Herzegovina with a score of 9-4.
