Classification to Pan American Games completed after thrilling PKF Championships

The list of Karate athletes to take part at the anticipated 2023 Pan American Games is now completed, following the last stage of the classification at the 2023 PKF Championships. The continental event which was held this past week in Costa Rica awarded the final spots to take part in the biggest multi-sport event of the Americas.

The United States and hosts of Chile will be the most represented nations at the Karate competition of the 2023 Pan American Games. Both the host country and the North American powerhouse nation of the sport will complete with 13 athletes.

Brazil with 11 athletes and Colombia with 10 competitors will also have numerous delegations. No less than 21 countries will be represented at the event, a testament to Karate’s popularity in the Americas.

After the celebration of the last stage of the classification process, a host of first-class karatekas have confirmed their participation at the Karate competition of the event.

No less than six Olympians will travel to Santiago later this year. Olympic bronze medallist Ariel Torres of the United States, Sakura Kokumai of the United States, Claudymar Garces of Venezuela, Andres Madera of Venezuela, Thomas Scott of the United States, and Brian Irr of the United States complete the list of Olympians in Santiago 2023.

Meanwhile, World Champion Douglas Brose of Brazil heads the line-up of current World Championships medallists at the event. Silver medallists Trinity Allen of the United States and Fabian Huaiquiman of Chile, and bronze medallist Alexandra Grande of Peru will participate at the event.   

The Karate competition of the 2023 Pan American Games is scheduled from November 3 to 5. The United States topped the medal table of Karate event in the last edition of the Pan American Games in 2019, followed by the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
