The 2024 Senior European Karate Championships will be held this week in Zadar (Croatia). Scheduled from May 8 to 12, the EKF Senior Championships will crown the new heroes of the sport in the continent and will qualify the European representatives to participate in the World Team Championships to be held in Pamplona, Spain later this year.

WHAT
- The EKF Senior Championships is Karate’s first-class event in Europe.
- The tournament reaches its 59th edition and follows the successful editions in Gaziantep (Turkiye) in 2022 and Guadalajara (Spain) in 2023.
- Over 500 athletes from 47 countries participated in the 2023 EKF Senior Championships in Guadalajara. Germany topped the medal table with six medals and four golds, followed by Italy and Ukraine.
WHERE
- The tournament takes place in the city of Zadar, Croatia. Located on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, Zadar is a historic city with a rich cultural heritage and stunning coastal scenery.
- The event is held at the Sports Centre Visnjik.
- A major powerhouse nation of the sport in Europe, Croatia host the event once again after successfully welcoming the tournament in Porec in 2021.
WHEN
- The event is scheduled from May 8 to 12.
- The eliminations of Individual competitions will be held on Wednesday and Thursday.
- The eliminations of the Team competition will take place on Thursday and Friday.
- The bronze medal bouts and finals of the individual categories are scheduled on Saturday.
- The bronze medal bouts and finals of team categories are slated for Sunday.
- The Para-Karate competition will be scheduled for Saturday (Visually Impaired and Intellectually Impaired) and Sunday (Wheelchair athletes)

WHO
- Over 600 athletes from 51 countries have registered to take part in the event.
HOW
- The tournament follows a Knockout competition system.
- All the elimination rounds of each of the categories are held back-to-back with the medal bouts being held on Saturday and Sunday.
WHAT ELSE
- The EKF Senior Championships will qualify representatives in team divisions to represent Europe at the upcoming World Team Championships, scheduled to be held in Pamplona (Spain) from October 9 to 13, 2024.
