The season of Karate 1-Premier League starts this week in Paris, France as one of the flagships and most anticipated events of international Karate takes the spotlight of international karate. The Karate 1-Premier League Paris will be held from January 24-26 and it will be available LIVE on the WKF YouTube channel.
WHAT
- The Karate 1-Premier League Paris is the first tournament of the season of Karate’s first-class series of events.
- The Karate 1-Premier League is the top international Karate competition, gathering the best Karate athletes in the world.
- The 2025 season begins in Paris (France) and it will travel to Hangzhou (China) from March 14 to 16, Cairo (Egypt) from April 18 to 20, and Rabat (Morocco) from May 30 to April 1.
WHERE
- The tournament takes place at the Pierre de Coubertin sports hall.
- The Karate 1-Premier League Paris is one of the main flagship events of the sport. The capital of France has welcomed Karate’s top event since its inception in 2011, except for a halt from 2021 to 2023.
- Paris will also host the most-anticipated Qualification Phase event for the World Individual Championships, to be held also at Pierre de Coubertin sports hall from October 17 to 19.
WHEN
- The event is scheduled from January 24 to 26.
- The eliminations will be held on Friday and Saturday (from 09.00 to 20.30 local time, GMT+1).
- The Finals and bronze medal bouts are scheduled for Sunday, in two sessions, from 10.00 to 14.00 and from 15.00 to 19.00

WHO
- Nearly 400 athletes from 70 countries have registered to participate in the event.
- The powerhouse nation of Italy presents the largest delegation in Paris, with 35 athletes. The birth nation of the sport, Japan, with 29 athletes, and Turkiye with 25 athletes also present large delegations in Cairo.
HOW
- The competition follows a round-robin format in the eliminations. The quarterfinals, semi-finals, and medal bouts follow a knockout system.
WHAT ELSE
- The Karate 1-Premier League Paris represents the debut of the new Grand Winners. After their crowning at the memorable Grand Winners Gala in Casablanca, Morocco last year, the new Grand Winners will have the opportunity to wear the special karategi with the golden embroidery for the first time in Paris.
