AKF Congress to harness new era for Asian Karate

The Asian Karate Federation celebrated its Executive Committee meetings and the Extraordinary Congress this past weekend in Kota Kinabalu (Malaysia). The gatherings of the decision-making bodies of the AKF were held in the capital city of Malaysia’s Sabah state on the eve of the 2019 AKF Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships.

The allocation of upcoming events and the approval of the new Statutes to guide the elections that will take place next June in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) for President and Executive Committee members of the organisation were among the topics of the agenda of the meetings.  AKF president Kuang-Huei Chang headed the gatherings that also had the participation of WKF General Secretary Toshihisa Nagura who represented the WKF in these AKF activities.

“In the WKF we have achieved a tremendous success all over the world in the last years and these accomplishments could not be reached without the contribution and hard work of the continental federations,” has declared WKF President Antonio Espinós.

“Karate would not have grown into the amazing sport that it is today without the example of dedication and passion for the sport of the continental federations like the AKF. I can only thank the AKF and its president Kuang-Huei Chang for their cooperation, and I am sure that together we will continue taking Karate where it deserves to be,” has added Mr Espinós.
